VOLUNTEER

Looking for a way to feel part of that “Sense of Community”? Want to learn new skills and become part of running the biggest event in the Yass Valley? The Murrumbateman Field Days could not run without our Volunteers, and we have heaps of jobs that need doing.

Volunteer Roles

Set-Up Tasks

Our working bees are run in early October during the weekends before the event from 9am until 3pm. You don’t have to attend the whole day, just as much time as you can spare. You’ll get lunch provided and a free day entry into the field days.

  • Measuring out sites
  • Pushing the line marker
  • Construction and placement of site numbers
  • Putting up bunting – it’s not a field day without bunting!
  • Putting out signs around the site
  • Whipper snipping/tiding up the grounds
Field Days Tasks 17th-18th October

During the weekend, you just need to work your shift time, then you’re free to check out the field days for the rest of the day. You will get food, drinks and training on what task you’ll be doing.

General Gate Duty

This is where we need the most Volunteers. The task is simply taking or scanning the tickets and passing out the programs to our visitors. You’re the first happy face our visitors will see as they enter the site. If you’d like to volunteer as a family group, we can roster you on a gate entry together.

Grounds Crew
  • Escorting vehicles
  • Fixing hazards
  • Directing internal traffic
  • Walking around the site making sure everything is running smoothly
  • General fix-it jobs as required
Site Minding

This is a new service for our exhibitors. You will keep an eye on the exhibitor’s site for a short time while they grab some food etc.

Ground Announcer

We’re looking for some new people to be the “Voice of the Field Days” to get those important announcements out around our site. A clear voice is needed for this position. A bit of prior experience preferred but not essential. *Limited positions for this one.

Car/Gate Attendant

For those who don’t mind an early start, the gates open to the exhibitors at 6am! Tasks include checking the exhibitors passes and directing them to their site. After your done you’ve got the rest of the day to check out the field days.

Entertainment

Help out running the Stage, Rural Talks and Oval events.

Ticket Box

Processing payments and handing out tickets (previous experience in money handling/EFTPOS operation is preferred for this job).
